Here is a mail from David Holroyd

Hi Terry,
I have belatedly looked at the PANDAS website having been told that the picture of the glider fliers (including me!) taken by Ian has been posted onto the site. I noticed on the history page the comment about the missing “N” in PANDAS. In the late 70’s and early 80’s the club had a junior committee of which I was a member and I remember asking Eric Johnson what PANDAS stood for. The letter N was for “Neighbouring”. I think that the old website may even have had an old logo scanned into it somewhere because I have a logo which shows the PANDAS lettering and Pontefract and Neighbouring District Aeromodelling Society underneath.
Regards,
David Holroyd

Here is my answer:

Thanks for your note, but I must put the misapprehension straight. If you look at the 'PANDAS' badge/logo (the one you get every year with the 'year' on it), you will note the official wording - with NO 'neighbouring' in the title. This has been the official badge since the beginning (1974). I drew the original badge - at about 12" diameter - for use on all artwork. The 'neighbouring' was added by Eric some time later, but was never made official. This title was also used on the website created by John Bunting.
Eric also wanted to use the 'World Wildlife Fund' panda, but again not accepted. & it would have been illegal.
I hope this clears things up.
Terry

Would any of your members be interested in buying a RTF Parkzone Spitfire from me.
It is electric, 3 channel (aileron, elevator and throttle),
1 metre wing span, never been flown (never been assembled), complete £100.

Reason for sale, too advanced for my abilities, it would be a shame for me to screw it into the ground.
I live in Goole but I come through to Pontefract Park on a regular basis (kite club).
I can be contacted by email: asgard1@live.co.uk or mobile (07790680475).

Thank you, Yours
Peter Appleyard

I have a kestrel intro-se for sale, it comes complete with carry case, fuel, tool kit, starter, plus many more accessories its only been flown once and is in excellent condition.
I am open to good offers. In total I spent around £600 on the full kit, so I would be looking at £350 plus.

My contact details are michael hickman 07883404141 and my email is: michaelhickman@sky.com if anyone wants to view the item then I can either bring it to the club or they can visit me, I only live near goole so not too far away,
